$500,000 bond set for AWOL Dyer

DyerStephens County District Judge Joe Enos issued an arrest warrant for Charles Alan Dyer this morning when Dyer failed to appear for trial. After revoking Dyer’s original bond, Enos set a $500,000 bond on the new warrant.

Facing charges of child sexual abuse, Dyer’s trial was set to begin this morning. Last April, a jury was unable to reach a decision in the case, and Enos declared a mistrial.

District Attorney Jason Hicks issued a statement saying, “Dyer’s whereabouts at this time are unknown” and law enforcement are requesting anyone with information to call authorities.

Sheriff Wayne McKinney said, “This is a very desperate and dangerous individual who is heavily armed and needs to be found quickly.”  McKinney stated if someone has information about Dyer, they are asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s department at 580-255-3131 immediately.

SCSO deputies arrested Monica Joy Freeman on arson charges in connection with the fire. A district attorney’s press release refers to her as Dyer’s “girlfriend.”

Freeman was arraigned Monday afternoon, charged with arson and bond was set at $50,000 or $10,000 with GPS.
