Bobby Joe Davis, 76, of Marlow died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in Duncan.
Services are planned for Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Rush Springs, with Charles Kymes and Dewayne Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Bobby was born Monday, May 25, 1936, in Alex to Robert and Evelyn (True) Davis. He had lived in Davis before moving to Marlow in December 1977. Bobby graduated from Alex High School in 1954 and later attended Oklahoma State University, where he earned a bachelor of science in 1960. Bobby married the former Shannon Lee Hambleton on May 6, 1960, in Chickasha. He was employed as an engineer for the United States Soil Conservation Service, retiring after 38 years of service.
Bobby loved outdoor activities, including farming, gardening, beekeeping, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working and helping others. He repaired small engines and watches and was a skilled woodcutter. More than anything, Bobby enjoyed being a grandpa. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Rush Springs.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy Davis and Jackie Davis; and a sister-in-law, Ann Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Lee Davis, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jean Davis of Midwest City, and Deanna and Karl Dowell of Mustang; a granddaughter, Emma Dowell; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers are Joe Kuntz, Paul Loveless, Sam Storey, Gary Worden, James Sweat and Charlie Horning. Honorary bearers are the Alex High School Class of 1954, Larry Brantley, Charlie Kymes, Jimmy Burton, Johnny Freeman, Jerry Montgomery, Stan Rice and Clif Werhan.
