Doyle Gene Whaley, 69, of Marlow died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, in Marlow.
Graveside services are planned for Monday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Marlow Cemetery, with the Rev. David Woods officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Gene was born Thursday, Nov. 11, 1943, in Marlow to Loyd E. and Helene Dreme (Gray) Whaley. He spent most of his life in the Marlow area and graduated from Bray High School in 1960. Gene married the former Shirley Ann Cooper on Nov. 16, 1963, in Las Vegas, Nev. He loved his job as the parts manager at Eddie Cordes, LLC, in Lawton, where he was employed for more than 40 years. Gene retired in 2008 and enjoyed his retirement by spending time on his farm, hunting and fishing.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Whaley, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donnie Whaley of Marlow, and Ronnie and Julie Whaley of Marlow; four grandchildren, Alex Whaley, Sara Pierce, Dakotah Whaley and Olivia Whaley; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Pierce and Brooklyn Pierce; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and JoAnn Whaley of Marlow, and Rick and Rhonda Whaley of Corpus Christi, Texas; four nephews, Jonathan O’Neal, Colt O’Neal, Jason Whaley and Jeff Whaley; two nieces, Laura Pace and Denece Barteau; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Pace and husband Rod, and Glenda Adams and husband Danny.
