Elda Maudean McCracken, 86, of Marlow died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, in Duncan.
Services were held Monday, Aug. 30, at Denton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Price and the Rev. Jerry Couch officiating. Burial followed in the Sterling Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Elda was born Monday, March 10, 1924, in Grady County to J. B. and Mazell (Henderson) Hale. She married Douglas Stroud on Aug. 8, 1940, in Comanche County; he preceded her in death in 1955. Elda later married James K. McCracken on July 4, 1956, in Wichita Falls, Texas; he preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2008. She lived in the Meers area her entire life, including Lawton, Sterling and Central High. Elda enjoyed attending church and engaging in church activities. She also enjoyed cooking, traveling and visiting loved ones. Most of all, she loved being with her family. She was a member of Denton Baptist Church.
Elda was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; and four brothers, Billy Hale, Sonny Hale, Lewis Hale and Sam Hale.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in law, Larry and Rachelle Stroud of Sublette, Kan.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara McCracken of Sterling, Linda and Terry Potts of Elgin, and Kelly and Bub Johnson of Central High; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Linda Hale of Apache; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pearlie and Melvin Julian of Sterling, and Mary and Jimmy Al Wright of Sterling; and her best friend, Margie Jones of Central High.
Pallbearers were Elda’s grandsons. Honorary bearers were Dennis Wells, Robert Bussey, George Gower, Jerry Hunter, Bill Buzbee and Bob Sullivan.
