A funeral service for Guy Lawayne Newton, 62, of Clinton is planned for Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Clinton, with Doyle Kinney and Dan Day officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Guy was born Dec. 29, 1950, to Dossie Edmon and Lydia Emma (Miller) Newton in Clinton. He grew up in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1969. He was the manager of the Gibson’s Store in Clinton for more than seven years. During his employment with Gibson’s, he met his future bride, the former Linda Cowles, and they were married on Feb. 6, 1970, in Clinton. They have made their home in Clinton, where Guy started a career in trucking, and owned and operated his own business.
Guy purchased H.T. Heffington Trucking Company and later worked for Rider Integrated Logistics, doing cross-country transporting. He was most recently employed with Francis Drilling Fluids Trucking. Guy was a member of the First Christian Church and was a 32nd-degree Mason and a Shriner. He loved fishing, hunting, bike-riding, and he had fun doing duck calls.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dossie.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Tony Zarbano of Glenpool; his mother-in-law, Laverne Alexander of Elk City; his stepmother-in-law, Vallene Corbin of Hearst, Texas; a sister-in-law, Holly (Mrs. Dossie) Newton of Marlow; a brother-in-law, Dennis Cowles and his wife Elizabeth of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; nieces and nephews, Trey Newton of Weatherford, Natalie Davis and her husband Matt of Marlow, Brittany Maxwell and her husband Alan of San Antonio, Texas, Dana Brown and her husband Jason, and Derrick Kimmel, all of Bay St. Louis; and two great-nephews, Cameron and Carson Brown.
The family has recommended that memorial contributions be directed to the First Christian Church in Clinton.
