Hatty Christine Cochran, 77, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, in Chickasha.
Services were held Monday, Oct. 21, at Eastside Baptist Church in Marlow, with the Rev. Toby Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Christine was born Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1936, in Marlow to Robert Benjamin and Susie Ellen (Thomas) Cochran. She lived in the Marlow area her entire life and graduated from Marlow High School in 1955. She later attended Red River Vo-Tech in Duncan. Christine was employed in the medical field as a nurse’s aide for 40 years. She had a God-given talent for caring for and checking on people, and she loved giving cards of encouragement.
Christine enjoyed playing horseshoes and ball, as well as going fishing. She was always involved in her church. While in the Beaver community, she was the secretary-treasurer and taught Sunday School. Christine later joined Eastside Baptist Church in Marlow. She never had children of her own, but she had a church full of kids she called her “grandchildren.”
Christine was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers, J.W., Isaac, Horace, Edgar, Kenneth, Harrell, Troy and Archie; and two sisters, Eunice Ivey and Stella Cook.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Ruby Cochran of Arkansas; special friends, Steve and Sherry Sanders and their family of Rush Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Family members and friends served as pallbearers. Honorary bearers were the deacons of the church.
