Jack Leo Porter, 90, of Rush Springs died Friday, March 15, 2013, in Rush Springs.
Services were held Monday, March 18, at the Southern Baptist Church of Rush Springs, with Terry Beard, Richard McCormack and Mike Carter officiating. Burial followed in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.
Jack was born Thursday, Nov. 16, 1922, in Kingfisher County to Dexter T. and Mecie (Moore) Porter. He attended Omega High School and spent most of his life in Rush Springs. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force, having served during World War II. On March 9, 1945, Jack married the former Elizabeth Biehler in El Reno. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Jack worked in the oil field for 20 years. He was a farmer and rancher who grew watermelons, cantaloupe and peanuts, and raised horses. Jack was involved in the Rush Springs Senior Citizens organization and served on the board of directors. He was a longtime member of the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Porter, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack David and Jane Porter of Rush Springs; two granddaughters, Christa Ann Porter of Indianapolis, Ind., and Kari Jane Porter of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Mike Carter, Wayland Smith, Jeff Hudish, Bill Porter, Gerald Farmer and Conn Goodwin. Honorary pallbearer was Robert Kuntz.
