Former Marlow resident Jimmie Dorman (Jim) Gentry, 78, of Oklahoma City died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, in Oklahoma City.
Services are planned for Thursday, Oct. 17, at 1:30 p.m. at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home, with John Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Jim was born Sunday, Nov. 25, 1934, in Duncan to J.D. and Nancy Lee (Fraizier) Gentry. He graduated from Marlow High School in 1952. He later served in the 45th Division of the Oklahoma National Guard. On Jan. 30, 1959, Jim married the former Louise Anthony at the First United Methodist Church in Marlow. He was a resident of Woodward before moving to Oklahoma City, where he had lived for the past 42 years.
Jim was employed with Wilson Industries as a sales manager for 26 years and was a member of numerous oilfield associations. He was a hard worker and a devoted family man. Jim loved spending time with his “chickens,” which is what he called his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching Fox News, going to Lake Murray with his family, and driving his boat. Jim was a member of the Christ Church in Yukon.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jan Gentry; and his grandparents, Henry and Bertha Gentry, who reared him in the Beaver community.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Gentry, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Brian Wallis of Yukon, and Joan and Gary Jackson of Yukon; five grandchildren, Corbie Jackson, Connor Jackson, Hannah Josey, Curtis Josey and Jessee Pearce, all of Yukon; and many, many friends.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
