Jimmie Ray Shaver, 77, of Duncan, died Friday, Nov. 30, at his home.
A family-held memorial service is planned for Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. at 1415 West Highway 7 in Marlow.
Jimmie was born Sunday, Dec. 16, 1934, in Comanche to Jake and Ruby (Jones) Shaver. He attended school in Brock and Lone Grove. He lived in Lone Grove for 50 years before moving to Duncan six months ago. Jimmie married the former Lois Diemer on May 4, 1959, in Ardmore. He was employed with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in the highway department for 22 years. Jimmie loved singing and playing music with the country band, The Persuaders. He also enjoyed fishing and working with horses.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosie Shaver.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Shaver, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry Ray and Kim Shaver of Ratliff City; a daughter and son-in-law, LaDonna Ann and Bob Bennett of Marlow; five grandchildren, Julie Shirley of Duncan, Zachery Shirley of Marlow, Sarah Richey of Marlow, Justin Shaver of Norfolk, Va., and Harlie Shaver of Ratliff City; five great-grandchildren, Brendan Shirley and Jayden Cundiff of Duncan, and Kylie Richey, Evan Richey and Ashlynn Richey of Marlow; a brother, Kenneth Shaver of California; a sister, Laveta Harvey of Seymour, Texas; and cousins, Carolyn Morris of Lone Grove, and Jimmy Adams of Bonham, Texas.
