Jo Jackson, 79, of Lawton died peacefully and surrounded by her family on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Funeral is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church East in Lawton, with the Rev. Doug Passmore, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Lawton.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jo was born Oct. 15, 1933, in Norman to Paul and Jewel Puckett. Her family briefly moved to California before making their home in Anadarko, where Jo lived until moving to Marlow during her senior year. In May 1951, she graduated from Marlow High School, where she was a majorette for the MHS band. Jo married S.A. Jackson, her husband of 61 years, on Oct. 20, 1951, at Fifth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Marlow. Together, they reared three sons, Keith, Ronnie and Rodney Jackson, often attending two and three football and baseball games weekly. Jo co-owned and operated the family business, Jackson’s Laundromats. She was a member of First Baptist East and was the church secretary for many years. She was a member of the Flower Mound ladies auxiliary and  a member of the ABC bowling league at Thunderbird Lanes for many years.
Jo was an avid painter and enjoyed her swimming pool and the sun. She was a friendly, loving woman who never met a stranger.  She was very passionate about animals; she raised horses and cattle, and especially loved her dogs and cats. She enjoyed cooking and ensured that her family was always taken care of, often not sitting until everyone had a plate. Her hot rolls were a family tradition. She loved her children, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren so much and taught all of them the very important lesson of always eating dessert first. She will be thought of daily and loved forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pauline Dennison.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Alexandra Jackson of Lawton, Ronnie and Paula Jackson of Burkburnett, Texas, and Rodney and Lorri Jackson of Lawton; 15 grandchildren and their spouses, Katy Jackson-Seeley and Shawn, Andy Jackson, Kelly Jackson-Reavis and Craig, Brett Jackson and Vickie, Mindy and John Doolin, Lindsey Jackson, Leigh Marteney and Mike, Beth Jackson, Nathan Jackson and Melissa, Jenna Jackson and Michael Elam, Crystal Nicholas and Mike, Megan Roloff and Joseph, Mark Fields, Michael Fields, and Dalton Fields; 18 great-grandchildren, Lexy, Jax, Ryan, Reid, Caleb, Cole, Braeden, Jace, Tenley, Jessie, Jackson, Colin, Hunter, Jacob, Austin, Gage, Carley and Matthew; a brother and sister-in-law; Paul John and Judy Puckett of Moore; a brother-in-law, Rick Dennison of Jamestown, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews.
