Joy Janell Fisher, 75, of Marlow died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at her home.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Marlow, with Dr. Joe Ligon officiating. Burial followed in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Joy was born Saturday, Aug. 21, 1937, in the Old Trail community north of Marlow to Joe Eddie and Susie (Cullum) Brown. She was a lifelong resident of the Marlow area and graduated from Marlow High School. On Nov. 6, 1955, Joy married Johnny Maurice Fisher at his parents’ home in Marlow. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, scrapbooking and spinning wool. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her kids and grandkids. Joy loved Bible study and attending church, and she was a member of the Joanne Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church in Marlow.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Michael Maddox; and a sister, Barbara Hogan.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny M. Fisher, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, John D. and Kristi Fisher of Geneseo, Ill.; two daughters and a son-in-law, LeAnn and Robby Sellers of Marlow, and Cindy Lou Maddox of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Saul D. Maddox, Diana Maddox, Stephanie Maddox, Devon Maddox, Jacob Fisher, Hannah Fisher, Moriah Fisher, Ethan Fisher, Terah Fisher and Levi Fisher; four great-grandchildren, Maison Maddox, Syles Maddox, Parker Maddox and Temperance Baish; a sister, Betty Burnett of Lindsay; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; a host of friends; and a granddog, Wyatt Earp Sellers.
Pallbearers were Ken Layn, Jim Pryor, Tom Wheat, Bill Garrett, Jim Farmer and Ron Newby. Honorary bearers were Joy’s grandsons, along with Ken Apple, Bo Bowden and Dr. Jim McGouran.
