Lauretta Burton Reynolds, 88, of Marlow died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in Duncan.
A private family graveside service is planned for Saturday, Feb. 9, at 9 a.m. at the Walters Cemetery.
A family visitation is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. A memorial service for family members and friends will be held in the chapel at the First Baptist Church in Marlow on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. Dr. Ed Sasnett of Norman will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.
Lauretta was born March 10, 1924, in Temple to William Lafayette and Vela Ina (Lewis) Burton. She graduated from Temple High School and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. On April 23, 1943, she was united in marriage to John Phillips Reynolds. Lauretta was employed in the library at Walters High School, and later assisted her husband in launching a new financial institution, Citizens Bank, in Velma. Lauretta enjoyed working with handcrafts, painting, reading, sewing costumes for her grandchildren, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William R. (Bill) and Bonnie Barton Reynolds of Marlow, and Phil and Susan Reynolds of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Justin R. Reynolds and his wife Karen of Denton, Texas, Jordan (Reynolds) Phelps and her husband J’Bob of Norman, John Phillips Reynolds II and his wife Tiffany of Houston, James Edward Reynolds and his wife Meagan of Dallas, Texas, and Matthew Reynolds of Houston; seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Talynn, Sean, Kara, Brittani, Shiloh and Harper; and two brothers, Lewis Burton of Dallas, and Gail Burton of Bentonville, Ark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
