Lena Alma Jones, 100, of Marlow died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at her home.
Graveside services are planned for Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Marlow Cemetery, with Dr. Joe Ligon officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Lena was born Sunday, July 20, 1913, in Sulphur to Allen and Irene (Griffitts) Ferguson. She came to Marlow with her family by covered wagon at the age of 10. Lena spent most of her life in the Marlow area and graduated from Marlow High School in 1933. On March 18, 1939, she married Leonard Jones in Duncan; and they had one son, who died at birth. Leonard preceded Lena in death in 1998.
Until a few years ago, Lena always had a garden and flowers. She loved reading and watching westerns on TV. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday at her home. Lena was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marlow.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Tommy Lynn Jones; and a brother, Tommy Ferguson.
Survivors include a sister, Ruby Barley of San Diego, Calif.; a niece, Audie Newsom and husband Max of Duncan; a nephew, Mike Ferguson and wife Lindy of San Diego; and a special caregiver, Beverly Walden of Marlow.
