M.T. Hines, 78, of Duncan died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, in Duncan.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday, Feb. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church West, with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 8, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
M.T. was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Marlow to Fred and Maude (Monds) Hines. He attended first through eighth grades at Gatlin School and graduated from Duncan High School in 1954. M.T. married the former Marilyn Tidwell on June 3, 1954, in Duncan. M.T. was a loving father and husband and a dedicated entrepreneur, owning and operating several heavy truck and trailer parts and repair businesses, a farm and Hines Ballpark.
M.T. enjoyed life most when he was working and helping others. He was a mentor to many young people through his ballpark, and he was inducted into the Oklahoma Softball Hall of Fame. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church West.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Geary and Shirl Hines of Duncan, and Lyndel and Leona Hines of Marlow; a daughter and son-in-law, Rheta and David Mellendore of Duncan; six grandchildren, Devereaux Hines, Jamey Hines, Jason Lambert, Jeffery Gilbert, Miles Gilbert and Steve Crowe; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.W. Hines of Duncan, and Fred K. Hines of Tuscarora, Md.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Freda Sharp of Bakersfield, Calif., and Cathy and Logan DeRoin of Broken Arrow; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers are Jamey Hines, Jason Lambert, Jeffery Gilbert, Miles Gilbert, Steve Crowe, Cody Crowe, Dalton Crowe and Colton Crowe. Honorary bearers are M.T.’s extended family.
