Longtime Marlow resident Marian Gregston Clement, 90, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, in Denison, Texas.
Services are planned for Saturday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Marian was born Tuesday, March 28, 1922, in White, S.D., to George Everett and Ina Gladys (Bassett) Eaves. She graduated from Alfalfa High School in 1940 and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Central State College in Edmond in 1945. Marian was married to J.W. Gregston in Edmond on Aug. 1, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1968. She later married James H. (Hack) Clement on Nov. 22, 1978. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2012.
In 1945, Marian began her teaching career in the Marlow public schools, where she taught elementary school until her retirement in 1983. Marian enjoyed traveling, cross-stitch, making candles and working in her yard. She was active in her community and was a member of the Gamma Phi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. Marian was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marlow, where she loved singing in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Billy Ewing of Dallas, Texas, Sandy and Mike Emmons of Southlake, Texas, and Sally and Steve Sparks of Denison, Texas; a granddaughter, Sheena Jay Mays of Lawton; a grandson, Bryan James Andrews of Lawton; four great-grandchildren, Tonya Mays, Alin Mays, Patrick Mays, Jr., and James Andrews; a sister, Elinora Starke of Oklahoma City; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Bryan Andrews, Patrick Mays, Roger Andrews, Randy Poeling, Mike Emmons and Steve Sparks. Honorary bearers are Lon Mathis and Jack Graves.
