Marvin Ben Owens, 79, a lifelong resident of Comanche, died peacefully on Monday morning, Nov. 26, 2012, in Duncan.
A funeral service is planned for Thursday, Nov. 29, at 1:30 p.m. at Ray of Hope Church, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and for Thursday, Nov. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Marvin was born Aug. 27, 1933, in Comanche to J.C. (Bud) and Euzella Ophelia (Whittington) Owens. He graduated from Comanche High School. Marvin proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1957, he and the former Katheryne Ann Jones were married in Comanche. Marvin loved traveling with his family, as well as spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved his job, drilling water wells, and opportunities to meet people. Marvin was a longtime member of the board of directors for Stephens County Rural Water District #3. He owned Comanche Plastics for more than 35 years.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Winnie Jean Bullard and Ophelia Bowen.
Survivors include his wife, Katheryne, of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marla Owens of Duncan, Jerran and Tommy Presgrove of Empire, and Tracey and Paul Wayne Moore of Marlow; seven grandchildren, Shaelyn Guilbeau and husband Shannon, Whitni Andrews, Michael Nubby, Logan Andrews, Zach Moore, Cierra Taylor and husband David, and Allyx Moore; five great-grandchildren, Altley, Jaygen and Kyrran Guilbeau, Makenzie Andrews, and Brayden Taylor; a brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Verna Owens of Comanche; a sister, Edna Hagan of Duncan; and many loved nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
