Mary Lou (Jodie) Scott, 85, of Marlow died Friday, March 23, 2012, in Oklahoma City.
Services are planned for Tuesday, March 27, at 1 p.m. at the Marlow Church of Christ, with Ed Hull officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Jodie was born Tuesday, Jan. 11, 1927, in Marlow to John D. and Mary E. (Cunningham) Sparks. She lived in the Marlow and Duncan areas her entire life and graduated from Marlow High School in 1945. Jodie married Lincoln Lee Scott on June 5, 1948, in Henrietta, Texas. Her preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2007. Jodie was employed as a secretary for the Department of Human Services for more than 20 years. She loved spending time with her family and was very proud of her grandchildren. She collected recipe books and loved serving others. Jodie was an active member of the Marlow Church of Christ and hosted world Bible studies in her home.
Jodie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Charlie Sparks, Buck Sparks, Hayden Sparks and T.R. Sparks; a sister, Pauline Pollard; three sisters-in-law, Mozelle Sparks, Faye Sparks and Ruth Sparks; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Chet Norton, J.D. and Gladys Scott, and Alta and Roy Barker.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lee and Kyle Collins of Marlow, Barbara Ann and Bill Bridges of Colleyville, Texas, Betty and Terry McGrath of Allen, Texas, and Jaye Lynne and Paul McMahan of Flower Mound, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Dr. Scott Collins and wife Dr. Nerissa Collins, Cathy Collins, Christopher and wife Jena Bridges, Blythe Bridges, Austin Bridges, Allie McGrath, Jenna McGrath, Nicholas Palmer, Devon Keith, Tiffany McMahan, Chase McMahan and Blake McMahan; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Bridges, Skylar Bridges, Brenden Witcher and one on the way; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Cubie Lee Sparks of Marlow; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Earline and Clark Lamb of Duncan, and Frances Watkins of Duncan; a sister-in-law, Betty James and husband Jack of Duncan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Jodie’s grandsons.
