Tony Ray Burns, 60, of Duncan died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, in Oklahoma City.
Services are planned for Friday, June 28, at 2 p.m. at the Faith Temple in Duncan, with the Rev. David Morrow officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Tony was born Monday, July 7, 1952, in Oklahoma City to Clifford and Mary May (Paul) Burns. He spent his entire life in the Duncan area and attended Duncan schools. He served his country in the United States Navy. On Jan. 21, 1997, Tony married the former Karen Elaine Whitmer in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a self-employed handyman for 40 years prior to his death. Tony enjoyed dancing, cooking, and arts and crafts, particularly making grapevine wreaths. He loved spending time outdoors, doing yard work and fishing. Tony was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, AA, and the Bethesda Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; a brother, Clark Burns; and a number of aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Elaine Burns, of the home; two sons, Anthony Burns and wife Jennifer of Duncan, and Jason Burns of Chickasha; five daughters, Shelly Lenard and husband John of Grand Prairie, Texas, Dora Tawkoyty of Altus, Samantha Burns of Altus, Trisha Graham of Virginia, and Jennifer Lewin of Oklahoma City; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Linda Tullos of Duncan, Darlene Womack and husband Jerry of Cox City, Shirley Ferguson and husband John of Joshua, Texas, Pauline Herrin and husband Don of Duncan, and Charlotte Burns and Johnny Osborne of Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.
