Virginia Louise (Simon) Hufnagel of Duncan died on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the age of 74 years, eight months and 25 days.
A funeral mass is planned for Friday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Duncan, with the Rev. Joseph Nettem officiating. Burial will follow in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.
Virginia Louise (Simon) Hufnagel was born on March 22, 1938, at Dover to Joseph J. and Jennie F. (Jones) Simon. She grew up around the Walters and Lawton areas, graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Lawton. Virginia married James Lee Hufnagel in 1974. She was a mother, homemaker and avid lover of God’s creatures; she had many of them. She enjoyed gardening and pretty much anything else having to do with the outdoors.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Leo, Johnny, Nick, Paul and Bill; and two sisters, Emma and Gertrude.
Survivors include her husband, James Lee Hufnagel, of the home; a daughter, Susan Perry of Yukon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney Burk, Jr., and wife Dana of Alamogordo, N.M., and Charles Hufnagel and wife Amanda of Sheridan, Wyo.; five grandchildren, Richard Perry of Oklahoma City, Bradley Perry of Berkeley, Calf., Calisha Hufnagel of Duncan, and Brooklyn Hufnagel and Colton Hufnagel, both of Sheridan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Teresa Swanbery and husband Bob of Fairfield, Conn., and Ruth York of Hot Springs, Ark.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
