Walter Thomas Brown, 93, of Marlow, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at his home.
Services are planned for Tuesday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, with the Rev. Harold Brown and the Rev. James Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
Walter was born Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1919, in Comanche County to George Thomas and Belle (Harding) Brown. He lived in the Marlow area his entire life and attended the Trail School. On Aug. 22, 1942, Walter married the former Letha Whaley in Marlow. She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2000. Walter was employed with the Civil Service as a quartermaster at Fort Sill for 30 years. He loved square dancing and playing golf, and he enjoying joking around with his sisters-in-law. Walter was a member of the Woodmen of the World and attended Fifth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Marlow.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Anna Lee McLearen; and a brother, J.B. Brown.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert McGehee of Garland, Texas; a grandson, Mark McGehee and his wife Betsy of Garland; and two great-grandsons, Lewis Manship and Connor McGehee, both of Garland; and a number of nieces and nephews.
