Wayne Leon Strong, 73, of Marlow died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, in Oklahoma City.
Services are planned for today (Thursday), Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. at Gatlin Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Love officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Wayne was born Friday, Aug. 5, 1938, in Denver, Colo., to Forest and Artie (Johnson) Strong. He lived in this area most of his life and graduated from the Cox City schools in 1946. He was a member of the United States Army National Guard. Wayne married the former Loveta Williams on Aug. 31, 1964, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a barber for more than 38 years and was the owner of Wayne’s Barber Shop. He was a sports fanatic who enjoyed watching all sports. Wayne loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teresa Hicks-Wilson; two brothers, Jimmy Strong and Gerald Strong; and a sister, Ruth McCoy.
Survivors include his wife, Loveta Strong, of the home; a son, Ernie Strong of Rush Springs; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Doug Beall of Oklahoma City, Susan and Phil McNair of Marlow, and Sheri and Duncan MacLean of Frisco, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Wayne Strong, Russell Strong, Halston Harris, Madison McNair, Parker MacLean, Cayman McNair, Lexi MacLean, Olivia Beall, Sophie Beall, Merideth McNair and Grant Beall.
Pallbearers are Halston Harris, Parker MacLean, Sully MacLean, Cayman McNair, Grant Beall, Wayne Strong and Russell Strong.
