Crime Stoppers USA, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Stephens County, will present two benefit concerts on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Duncan High School Auditorium.
Featured performers will be Brook Wallace, the 21-year-old fiddling phenomenon from Burleson, Texas, and a duo who bills themselves as “Jessie and the Outlaw.”
Brook was the first and youngest person ever to hold all three junior fiddler championships simultaneously.
Also scheduled to appear are “Outlaw Jessie Del” Robertson and Devon Dawson, who perform as “Jessie and the Outlaw.” They are the reigning Western Music Association’s Harmony Duo of the Year.
The two trade off alto/tenor leads and harmony vocals, with Outlaw stealing a few Western swing numbers on a saxophone he has named “Luna Louise.” Like all outlaws, Jessie Del has been known to disappear into several alias personalities.
With a little charm and sleight-of-hand, this Western gentleman provides occasional comic moments, as well.
Jessie’s duo partner, Devon Dawson, is a member of the Texas Trailhands headquartered in Fort Worth. She consistently garners top nominations nationally as a female performer in Western music. Her cowgirl vocals and “sock rhythm” guitar style are reminiscent of “swingtime cowgirls” like Patsy Montana, Rosalie Allen and Dale Evans.
Commonly known as “Miss Devon,” she was part of a Grammy-winning project—the Disney CD “Woody’s Roundup,” featuring the Western band Riders in the Sky. Miss Devon is the singing voice of Jessie the Cowgirl, one of the principal characters in the Toy Story films, on that CD.
The talents of master ventriloquist Devyn Thompson of Oklahoma City will also be spotlighted during the program.
Tickets are $5 each. For further information on where tickets may be purchased, please call Dave at (580) 656-2510, Ron at (580) 470-9136, or Allen at (580) 439-8111.
