The fifth annual Rush Springs Health Fair is scheduled for this Friday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lions den in Rush Springs, 200 West Blakely.
Flu shots (not free) will be available, along with information regarding breast cancer, medical screenings, free medical information, and door prizes.
This year’s event will feature the MHSU, which screens for high blood pressure, eye disease, hearing loss, diabetes and bone density. Vendors will include local and regional health agencies.
In conjunction with breast cancer awareness month, the mammography center of Grady Memorial Hospital will sponsor a table at the health fair. Center director Dana McElroy will make a presentation promoting awareness and the need for breast screening to combat cancer.
A breakfast preceding the fair will be served at 8 a.m. at the senior citizens center. The breakfast will be open to the public and will consist of sausage, biscuits, gravy and hash browns for a nominal fee.
Because of the health fair, the Rush Springs Family Medical Clinic will not be open Friday. Customarily, flu shots are available on a walk-in basis on Mondays through Thursdays from 8 to 11:30 a.m., and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
For more information, please call Ron Secoy at (580) 476-2527 or consult him at the medical clinic, located at 113 South Rush in Rush Springs.
