WINNING PITCHERThe last time Marlow played Comanche, the Outlaws struggled to pull out the win. They did though and it was the beginning of a 14-game winning streak.
Monday, the Outlaws did not have as much of a problem, downing the Indians 9-1 in five innings.
“The last time we played these guys, we came out and didn’t play very well,” Marlow coach Jeff Brewer said. “We didn’t show up, we played down to their level.
“Today, we got in a situation where we got some momentum going. We didn’t play great, we just played well enough to win. That’s all you can expect – find a way to get a ‘W’.”
Comanche took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but it would be the only run the Indians would get.
In the bottom half of the first, Anthony Green knock an RBI-double as part of a three-run inning. Kelby Richardson, Trey Coffman and Brite all scored.
Comanche helped out the Outlaws in the bottom of the third with three errors. Austin Forsythe drove in a run with a sacrifice flay and Beau Meshell got an RBI with a walk. Seth Scarbrough also had an RBI single.
Kelby Richardson, Trey Coffman, Wakley Bergner, Anthony Green, Beau Meshell, and Logan Knox all scored in the inning to push the lead to 9-1.
Meshell was the winning pitcher, going four innings with three strikeouts, one run, and no walks.
Brady Melton closed out the game on the mound in the fifth.
Green went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Scarbrough and Coffman both went 1-for-3. Coffman scored twice with Scarbrough getting an RBI.
