Kern Lee Heffington

Kern Lee Heffington was born into this life on June 19, 1949, and stepped into eternity on January 14, 2018.

Kern was born to proud parents, Wanda and Leo Heffington. He was the second of three children and grew up living west of Marlow on the family farm. He attended Marlow schools and was very active in the FFA. He won many ribbons and awards showing livestock, including the State Farmer Degree award for his outstanding work in vocational agriculture. While attending Fifth Street Baptist Church he came to know the Lord and gave his life to Christ. After graduation in 1967, Kern attended Murray State College and Cameron University. He married Judy Ladd in 1968 and had two children, Kern Ellis Heffington and Leeza Danielle Heffington.

After college, he worked on the family farm and started his own construction company. He took great pride in his work and had many creative talents. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marlow. The last years of his life he managed and worked the family farm and ranch.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Leo and Wanda Heffington; grandparents, Henry and Bertha Heffington and Bryan and Clara Kern.

He is survived by his children, son, Ellis Heffington and his wife, Amy of Vicksburg, Mississippi; daughter, Leeza Wright and her husband, Aaron of Louisville, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Paige Heffington, Preston Heffington, Audrey Heffington, and Brody Wright; two sisters, Donna Kay Sago and husband, Roger of Marlow; and Teresa McClennen and husband, Craig of Chickasha; three nieces, one nephew, cousins and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, with Bro. Steven Boydstun and Rev. Ellis Heffington officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
