Nick Ray Edwards

Nick Ray Edwards, departed this life on Friday, June 22, 2018, in Duncan, at the age of 70.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church, with Rev. David Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Nick was born Monday, June 23, 1947, in Eloy, AZ, to O.B. (Bruce) and Helen (Yancy) Edwards. He lived and attended school in Eloy until moving to Rush Springs in 1963. Nick married his wife of 15 years, Debbie Adkins on August 2, 2002, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He worked various jobs throughout his life – from owning at one time every gas station in Rush Springs to having a tire route. He preached at a local church and worked as a reserve police officer in Rush Springs. He was also an auctioneer that did all kinds of auctions with horse sales being his favorite. He enjoyed trading on horses for over 20 years. Nick worked for Grady County District #3 as a truck driver for over 21 years before retiring in 2015. He attended Vimy Ridge Church.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Edwards and his very devoted dachshund, Suki of the home; a son, Darrin Lynn Edwards and wife, Tamra of Dibble; a step-son, Sean Adkins of Purcell; a daughter, Mary Nickol Gregg of Rush Springs; nine grandchildren, Matthew Edwards, Drake Sumner, Sarah Edwards, Seth Edwards, Kassidi Gregg, Macklin Gregg, Josh Edwards, Dustin Edwards, and Brandi Edwards; one great-granddaughter, Mabrie Ridenour; one brother, Rick Edwards of Duncan; one sister, Tammy Dobey and husband, Steve of Duncan. He is also survived by two aunts, Lois Edwards of Anadarko and Loretha Malone of Marlow; an uncle, Harold Yancy and wife, Charlotte of Chickasha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy R. Edwards; his parents; and a sister-in-law, Betty Edwards.

Pallbearers will be Gary Bray, Dave Crow, Jackie Williamson, Darrin Southerland, Arnold May, Jack Porter, John Williams, and Keith Gregg.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lowell Dennis, Don Hayes, Eddie Coast, Jim Chaffin, Larry Williams, and Earl McCauley.
