Marjorie Leonard Jones

Marjorie Rose Jones, known as Margie by those who knew and loved her, departed from this life on Monday, July 9, 2018, in Jackson, TN, from complications caused by Congestive Heart Failure. She was 87 years old.

Margie was born on May 31, 1931, to Claud and Dora (Wilcoxson) Leonard in Duncan and was an only child, the apple of her parents’ eyes. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1949 and attended college at Central State for three years. She met the love of her life, Raymond, at the young age of 15 and he made her his wife on July 11, 1950. In 1960 and 1961 they had two sons, Michael and Mark. They both considered their boys a gift from God and were proud of each and every accomplishment, never missing an event in which they were involved.

After her husband passed away, Margie continued to live in Marlow at their homeplace. In recent years, after her health became a concern, she resided with her son, Mark, and his family in Tennessee.

Margie is survived by her two sons, Michael R. Jones and his wife, Pier, of Marlow; William Mark Jones and his wife, Lisa, of Humboldt, TN; eight grandchildren, Mishell Jones, Staci Foster, Billy Jones, Stephanie Miller, Dylan Tollette, Wesley Jones, Sophie Spurlock, and Emma Spurlock; and nine beautiful great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Dora Leonard; her loving husband, Raymond O. Jones; and many friends and relatives.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Margie’s life will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Denton Baptist Church, 272910 W. Ballpark Rd. in Marlow with Joe Price officiating. The church is providing lunch for family and friends prior to the service at 11:30 a.m.
