I.B. Jones

DUNCAN – I. B. Jones, departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 in Duncan at the age of 88.

Graveside Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at the Duncan Cemetery, with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. The Stephens County Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

I.B. was born Wednesday, April 2, 1930 in Doyle, to Edward Burl and Inic Eulysie (Akers) Jones. He graduated from Duncan High School and lived in the Stephens County area all of his life. I.B. served our country with the United States Army and was stationed in Korea while serving with the 45th Infantry Division. He was a rifle champion in 1967 and a battery commander in the 60s. He continued to serve our country in the National Guard as the 1st lieutenant for over 24 years. I.B. served the Duncan area as the fire chief and assistant fire chief for 24 years. He was self-employed as a monument engraver for over 50 years. I.B. married the love of his life, Elizabeth Marie Wilson on September 6, 1956 in Wichita Falls. They had 62 wonderful years. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars and playing golf. I. B. was an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish and deer hunt. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Marie Jones of the home, a son, Bobby Biffle and wife Stefanie of Duncan, a daughter, Linda Courtright and husband Lonnie of Edmond, 6 grandchildren, Logan Biffle, Brigitte Biffle, Sonia Tewell, Eric Courtright, Holly Courtright, Angela Elliott, and 12 great-grandchildren, including Carson Tewell and Kennedy Tewell. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Elbert Jones, Edward Jones, Sherman Jones, Irby Jones, and a sister, Alma Jones.
