Marilyn Sue Whitehead

Marlow: Marilyn Sue Whitehead, 68, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018 in Healdton.

No services are scheduled at this time and at the family's request cremation has taken place.

All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow. Marilyn was born Wednesday, Sept. 21, 1949 in Marlow, to Dan and Jimmie Lee (Newman) Files. She had lived in the Marlow area all of her life and attended Marlow High School.

Marilyn married the love of her life, Elton Lee Whitehead on Sept. 25, 1966 in Marlow. They had 47 wonderful years together before his passing on Sept. 9, 2014. She was a nurse and had worked at the Talley Walker Hospital, Marlow Manor, and Gregston’s Nursing Home.

Marilyn loved to taking care of everyone especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, feeding the birds, loved to travel with her friends and visit different places. Marilyn loved her dog Gizmo, who was her whole world.

Survivors include, a son, Tim Whitehead and wife Brenda of Marlow, two daughters, Kimberly Benfield and husband Keven of Marlow, Suzette Hargett of Ringling, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a sister, Donna Kay O'Neal and husband Vernon of Marlow, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Forest Files, five sisters, Ernestine Scott, Peggy Edwards, Maxine Edwards, Bonnie King, and Patsy Nell Files.
