LaVaughna May Orman

LaVaughna May Orman of Tulsa passed away Thursday October 25, 2018. She was 85 years old. Services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2626 N. Lewis Ave, Tulsa, OK 74110.

She was born at home on February 26, 1933 to William Clyde and Mary Magdalene Wadley. She was the 4th of 5 children born to this union. Known to her family as “sis”, she attended grade school at Barron Fork, OK County School up to the 6th grade and earned her G.E.D. at a later date.

She was united in marriage to James Thomas Embrey on February 6, 1948 and kept busy raising her family of 5. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in June of 1957 in Fort Worth, Texas and regularly attended Jehovah’s Witnesses meetings in Tulsa.

She was an avid reader; she enjoyed reading the Aid Book from cover to cover, and was a good seamstress, a craft she learned from her grandmother.

After her children were grown, she graduated at the top of her class from Truck Driving School in Ponca City, serving 20 years as a long haul solo driver, which she enjoyed very much. After retiring she worked part-time as driver of the city bus, tour bus, and medical supply vehicle between Muskogee and Oklahoma City daily.

As her health declined, she enjoyed listening to congregation meetings over the telephone.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Clyde and Mary Magdalene Wadley, her siblings Billy Jo Wadley and wife Juanita, Dale Wadley, Delvin Wadley, Ramona Collins and one child.
She is survived by five children: Connie Clayton and husband Adolph, Tulsa; Monty Beaty and wife Jan, Edmond; Jerry Embrey and wife Joan, El Reno; Jodie Anderson and husband Paul, Marlow; and Tomi Simon, Caney, Kan.; seven grandchildren including: Monica Carter and husband Scott, Hobart; Ryan Chastain and wife Sunny, Duncan; and others, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, a sister-in-law, Joyce Wadley, a brother-in-law, James Collins and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
