Freddy Lee Burris

Lawton: Freddy Lee Burris, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 in Lawton, at the age of 82.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 26, 2018, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow. Burial of cremated remains will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Freddy was born Sunday, May 31, 1936 in Marlow, to James Obadiah and Mabel Lee (McCarley) Burris. He graduated from the Marlow High School with the class of 1954. He lived in various places such as New Orleans and Denver but for most of his life he lived in the Stephens and Comanche county areas. Freddy was inducted into the OSSAA Hall of Fame for his service as a referee. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard and worked as a Film Lithographer on Fort Sill for over 30 years. Freddy married the love of his life, Barbara Sue Hoy, in Wichita Falls, on June 25, 1954. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. 

Survivors include, 2 sons, Joe Burris and wife Nora of Lawton, Jon Burris and wife Amanda of San Antonio, TX, a daughter, Jana Russell of Lawton, 5 grandchildren, Micah, Matt, Emily, Ylenia, Zitta, 12 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Tessa, Shaedyn, Micah Jr., Alyson, Kenshin, Sophia, Pearl, Grady, Archer, Cameron, and Connor. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as additional family, Karen Hoy, David Hoy, Leslie Hoy, Richard Hoy, and Dianne Dirickson.

Along with his loving wife, Freddy was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Ted Burris, Mickey Hoy, and a sister, Betty Jane Kirkpatrick.
