Christimas parade to be held Dec. 1

November 21, 2018

Marlow's annual Christmas Parade has been scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. The parade will travel down Main Street to First Street.

The lineup for most entries, including tractors, will be in the area around the high school, with entries arriving by 9 a.m.

The horses and horse-drawn entries are being asked to unload at the City Hall area at 119 S. 2nd. Horse and horse-drawn entries will be escorted as a group by the Marlow Police Department to the lineup area just prior to the start of the parade.

Prizes will include cash prizes from $25 to $100 for the top four floats. Trophies will be awarded for the best truck, best original vehicle, best Christmas decorated, and best-modified vehicle.

Trophies will also be presented in the Best Original Tractor and Most Unique Tractor categories. First and second place trophies will also be given in the Individual Horse Division and the Horse-Drawn Division.

To enter the parade in the category of “Best decorated motorized off-road vehicle” entries such as golf carts, 4-wheelers, lawn mowers and other motorized off-road vehicles must be decorated in the Christmas theme.

Motorcycles, if any, are asked to line up with the automobiles.

Although the Marlow Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the parade, does not require pre‑registration, it’s recommended that participants contact the Chamber office 580-658‑2212 or 580-641-0440 as soon as possible to find out where to line up their entries.

Featured parade guest will be St. Nick himself bringing lots of candy and Christmas cheer to town. Officials are asking parade entries not to bring any “imposter” Santas on their floats or other entries.
