Wilson Herman Talley

December 12, 2018

Wilson Herman Talley went to his heavenly home on December 10, 2018 in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 87.

A memorial celebration will be held on December 13, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel at Marlow First Baptist. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Services.

Wilson was born to Otho Maynard and Ada Lilian Gladys (Clark) Talley on September 17, 1931, in Dodson, Texas. The fourth of six children, Wilson lived in the Dodson area until he met the love of his life, Nona Jean Hatcher, in 1951. Wilson and Nona made a life together, and from that beautiful union was born five children. After living in various towns across Oklahoma and Texas, Wilson and Nona settled in Marlow, where they made their final earthly home.

The son of a proud farmer, Wilson spent the many bountiful years of his life farming, driving a truck, and making a living all the ways a boy from the farm knew how. In his later years, Wilson worked as a parking lot shuttle driver at Duncan Regional Hospital, where he was able to put his love of people to work. Wilson loved rescuing the broken things, and fixing the things often seen as unfixable. He found enjoyment in a freshly mowed yard and telling stories, ice cream and dominoes. Above all else, Wilson loved people. Family, friends, strangers; it made no difference. The world was never a happier place than it was when talking to Wilson.

Wilson is survived by his beautiful Nona Jean (Hatcher) Renfro of the home, sister Aletta Martinez of Hollis, Oklahoma, daughters Debra Percell and Janice Patton of Velma,Oklahoma,  sons Randy Keith and his wife Paula (Binki) Talley of Marlow, Oklahoma, Wilson Jr and his wife Dannielle Talley of Collinsville, Texas, and Stephen Joe Talley of Texas. Wilson Talley’s memory will live on in the hearts of six sisters-in-law, twenty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, a plethora of nieces and nephews, and the countless friends, acquaintances, and complete strangers who are better for having met him.

Wilson is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Barton and Haskell Talley, and sisters LaVera Sain and Ramona Wilks.
