Former Longtime Marlow Resident: Mavis Marie McCurley, departed this life Saturday, February 2, 2019 in Milan, TN at the age of 82.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 7, 2019, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Terra Sisco officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, Oklahoma.

Mavis was born on January 7, 1937 to Claude M. and Minerva Jane Medley in Kellyville, Oklahoma. She excelled in her studies and athleticism as a young woman. She played basketball for a local college team her senior year in high school. Throughout her life she continued to amaze her children and grandchildren with her shooting ability. She graduated from McLean, TX High School in 1955. Marrying the love of her life, Charles Nocona McCurley, on September 29. 1955 and the two of them moved to Marlow in 1971. Mavis worked in supervisory positions at factories in McLean, TX and Marlow, OK, as well as being a full time mom to her children. She was a member of the Marlow Cumberland Presbyterian Church. 

Mavis is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Charles McCurley, on March 15, 1996, her parents, one brother, Sandy Medley, and two sisters, Zelona Johns, and Naomi Cornelison. 

She is survived by her four children, Charles Nocona McCurley of Kingston, OK, Tina McCurley Nelson and her husband Marlon of Duncan, Rev. Don McCurley and his wife Tammy of Milan, TN, and Joe McCurley of Marlow. She is also survived by one sister, Billie Lorraine Phillips Ingle, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

The family would like to thank Lou Fankhauser for the loving care given to Mavis over the past months as she resided in the home of Don and Tammy McCurley.
