2019-2020 CTAC Live Concert Series Beginning Thursday, September 26

August 09, 2019

In 1998, the Duncan Arts & Humanities Council became the Chisholm Trail Arts Council. Also that year, the Chisholm Trail Arts Council absorbed a concert series from the Stephens County Community Concerts Association. That series became known as Live From the Center.  Soon after, it became known as what we now call CTAC Live Concert Series.  And with the generous support of Oklahoma Arts Council, McCasland Foundation, and many local business sponsors, Chisholm Trail Arts Council is pleased to present their 2019-2020 CTAC Live Concert Series.

The season will start off with an all-original bluegrass out of Oklahoma, Steelwind. Co-writers Blake Parks and Michael Henneberry continue their bluegrass journey accompanied with tight harmonies and soulful instrumentation. From playing intimate listening rooms to performing at major festivals, these Oklahoma songwriters are making a name for themselves.  Band members include Blake Parks, Michael Henneberry, Becca Harris, Joel Parks, Kenny Parks, and Adam Davis. Steelwind will perform September 26th.

Paragon Ragtime Orchestra will take the stage in November. The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra is the world’s only year-round, professional ensemble re-creating “America’s Original Music” – the syncopated sounds of early musical theater, silent cinema, and vintage dance. The PRO came into being as the result of Rick Benjamin’s 1985 discovery of thousands of turn-of-the-century orchestra scores once belonging to Victrola recording star Arthur Pryor. Conductor Rick Benjamin has built a career on the discovery and performance of lost American music from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.

With a flair for the wild and unexpected, the genre-bending trio, TAKE3 will perform in January, bringing the refinement of a rigorous classical music background infused with rock-star charisma. Whether performing their take on pop, jazz, movie themes, or classical tunes, they bring roof-raising energy to their performances and have been exhilarating audiences across the country.

To end the season, everyone can enjoy a Valentine’s evening with the Andy Meadows Band on February 14th.  Accompanied by a vibrant 10 piece band, Andy's live show delivers vocals powerful enough to compete with the likes of Harry Connick Jr., Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra. Plus, Andy's all-star band includes a group of phenomenal musicians who have played with everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole to Faron Young. Their unique blend of country, jazz, big band, swing, western swing, and blues work perfectly in concert halls, theaters and dance halls. With his 3 piece suits and his impromptu interactions with the crowd, Andy Meadows is a throwback to a time when musicians truly were entertainers.

Season tickets are available for the upcoming 19-20 concert season, and those who decide to become members also earn a few additional “perks” to include free CTAC concert of choice, free show to Duncan Little Theatre, and a free show to Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra.  For more information on season or individual tickets, please contact Chisholm Trail Arts Council at 580-252-4160.
