Carolyn Glee Maxwell

Longtime Bray Resident and Beloved Donkey Fan: Carolyn Glee Maxwell, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020 in Marlow, at the age of 77.

 Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 19, 2020, at the Lakeside Baptist Church, with Pastor Dale Nease and Rev. Shawn Bitner officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow. Family Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow.

 Carol was born Wednesday, September 23, 1942 in Marlow, to Roy and Dovie Mae (Duke) Vaughn. She lived in the Stephens and Grady county area all of her life, graduating from Rush Springs High School with the Class of 1960 where she was crowned football homecoming queen and was guard in basketball. She had also attended Marlow and Leedy schools growing up. Carol married her loving husband, John Maxwell in Vernon, Texas on June 1, 1961; they were married for 58 wonderful years before her passing. Carol enjoyed crafts and woodworking. In the summer, she could be found with her Mumma canning where they would put up over 500 jars every summer. She liked gardening, bowling, water skiing, and fishing with June. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, Rovena, Karla, Carolyn, June, Jan, Virginia, Dottie, Geneva, and Mary Crow. These were her buddies that you could always catch her laughing and having fun with. Carol loved to lead the cheer 2 bits, 4bits and could be found supporting any sporting event in the community. She enjoyed watching basketball and baseball games. Carol loved fixing meals for the baseball teams and the cattle showing kids. She could always be found with a smile on her face and will be dearly missed. Carol was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church.

 Survivors include her husband, John Maxwell of Duncan, 2 sons, Johnny Maxwell and wife Tammy of Marlow, Mickey Maxwell and wife Tonya of Duncan, a granddaughter, Jessica Baker and husband Bill of Marlow, a grandson, Terry Heath Maxwell and fiancée Trysta of Duncan. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Bill Vaughn of Newark, TX, Monte Vaughn and wife Debbie of Hereford, TX, a sister, Adrian Hoover of Duncan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of great friends.

 Carol was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, Jess and Ruby Maxwell, a brother, Roy Floyd Vaughn, a sister, Pat Bevers.

 Pallbearers will be: Mark Williams, Danny Harrison, Lynn Harmeyer, Jeff Bingham, Ted Turner, and Joe Graham.

 Honorary Pallbearers will be: Don Spivey, Fred Fitzgerald, Terry Howell, Coy Stewart, Jack Williams, Gage Williams, Bill Burton, and all school sports players.
