Heat Advisory Issued for Tuesday, June 30

by Elizabeth Pitts-Hibbard

The City of Marlow today issued an alert via the NIXLE system of a heat advisory from noon until 9pm on Tuesday, June 30. Affected areas include Stephens, Jefferson, Carter, Clay, and Love Counties.

Heat index values of up to 108 degrees can be expected. High temperatures and high humidity will increase the risk of heat illnesses.

Those in the affected counties are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay indoors in air conditioning, limit time in the sun, and check on neighbors and relatives.

When possible, strenuous activities should be rescheduled to early morning or evening, and take extra precautions if you work outside.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments should be scheduled.
