UPDATE: Due to weather-related power outages, the State cross country meet in Edmond has been postponed until Wednesday, November 4.

Marlow cross country teams brought home some new hardware on Saturday when the boys’ team earned the Outlaws’ first regional championship since 2013 and the girls’ came in second in the region with two runners making All-Regional at the meet.

“It is a testament to the work and dedication all of the guys have put in this year,” assistant coach Matt Ivory said of the championship win. “This group has never had a hard time doing the work. The difference I see in them now is they not only believe in each other but in what they could accomplish.”

The team was pleased to welcome Noah Davis back this week after an injury kept him off the course for the past two meets. The senior standout came back to his leadership position and a third-place win overall.

Tyler Brown and Tyler McKinley, at 6th and 7th place, were within a handful of seconds of each other (17:40.12 and 17:43.50, respectively). Luke Tolle rounded out the top ten with a time of 18:03.67.

“We beat a very good team in Marietta this week and the challenges get bigger, as we will face them again as well as Kiefer who has been the consensus number 1 team throughout the year,” Ivory said.

The Lady Outlaws were ready to run in Waurika and finished second in the region behind Marietta.

“The weather was perfect and the girls were ready to show that they belonged in the mix with the best in the class,” said head coach Mikey Eaves.

Regional champ Korie Kizarr ran the fifth-fastest time in school history at 12:00.94 and made it clear that she is ready for State this week. Grace Banks had a career-best time of 13:25.33 and made All-Regional.

“Grace is a great leader and someone that Marlow needs to be so proud of,” Eaves said.

Skylar Ramsey was just shy of an All-Regional nod, but Eaves is optimistic about her future. “This is a huge accomplishment for a freshman,” he said. “I’m pumped to see her run this week at State.”

Eaves added that Lauren Ivory, Bristin Smith, LeeAnne Riddle, and Myleah Bearce all ran personal best times for the year.

Both Marlow teams will travel to Edmond on Saturday for the State meet; the girls will run at 1pm and the boys at 1:20.
