New Library at Central High

by Elizabeth Pitts-Hibbard

On her sixth birthday, Macyn Grace McCarley gave the Central High community a gift: a little free library. “I was thinking maybe a few people could – if people don’t have books they could get a few,” McCarley said. “They can take a book and leave a book.”

Included in the library are some of McCarley’s favorite books, as well as contributions from others. “I think there are 100 books in there,” she said.

The library was made by McCarley’s father and painted with help from the whole family.

McCarley said that she hoped everyone would contribute to the library, including grownups.

“Even people like you,” she said. “Sometimes books are creepy and those are for adults. But everyone can use the library.”

The little free library is located at Central High Community Center.
