Hurland Alfred Burton

Hurland Alfred Burton, 90, of Marlow, Oklahoma passed away on August 22, 2017 in Duncan Regional Hospital.

Services will be at Grantham Funeral home in Duncan Saturday, August 26 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.

Hurland Alfred Burton was born east of Duncan on October 8, 1926 to Alton H. Burton and Mary King Burton. Hurland married Evelyn Tilghman Woolwine on February 17, 1959. Hurland worked as a meat cutter for Ridley Packing Company in Duncan, and Sweetwater, Texas. After moving to Marlow, he worked for Cable Meat Center. He enjoyed metal work, going to craft shows and attending country and western dances.

Hurland was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Phoebe Burton; brother, Alton Burton, Jr.; sister, Gruemella Fincher; and brother-in-law, John C. Fincher.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Burton of Marlow; two brothers, Randall and Nancy Burton of Marlow; and Vernon and Joetta Burton of Palestine,Texas; and sister-in-law, Marie Burton of Duncan; two granddaughters, Debbie and Mitch Speck of Sandy, OR; and Diane Webb of Hawaii; and two great-granddaughters, Jessica and Katie Speck. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Keith Burton, Steve Justus, Todd Burton, Steve Tilghman, Darrel James and Ben Justus.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the neighbors on Kirkpatrick Street who have shown their concern and support.

Visitation will be at Grantham Funeral home on Friday, August 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
