Henry Dale Dirickson

December 07, 2017

Henry Dale Dirickson was born March 21, 1945, in Marlow to Thomas J. and Silvateen Dirickson.

Henry attended Marlow Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1963. He completed his bachelor's degree in 1969 from SWOSU and served as a teacher, coach, and administrator for the Lawton Public Schools, completing his Master's degree in Education along the way and retired in 1997.

Married for 51 years to Dianne Hoy Dirickson, they made their home in Lawton. Henry and Dianne met at six years old, climbing an old tree on the block where both families lived. They were a part of a neighborhood filled with kids who gathered and played from dawn to dusk. In their twenties, they found each other again and together loved and raised four children: Tami Dirickson of Lawton; Rodney Dirickson and wife, Yvonne of Marlow; Janie Pennington and husband, Mark of Elgin; and Holly Renyer and husband, Justen of Stillwater. They had six amazing grandchildren who will miss their "Pa," Kris Pennington, Madison Dirickson, Connor Pennington, Kaden Pennington, Hudson Renyer, and Juliet Renyer.

He is also survived by two brothers, Ted Dirickson and wife, Bette of Edmond; and Gerald Dirickson and wife, Janet of Marlow. Henry loved his extended family of nieces and nephews and was very grateful for his good friend, James Perkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, T.J. Dirickson.

If you want to do something in Henry's memory: He loved the smell of roses, so give a rose to someone you love, for no reason, but in memory of him; cheer extra long for OU during the football playoff season and be sure to drink a diet Pepsi and eat a Snickers during the game in his memory; it's the Christmas season, reach out to someone in need with a card, a gift, or an act of love in his memory; hug your grandkids a little too long, and tell those around you how much they are loved- in Henry's memory. And finally, think of him fondly and pray for his friends and family.
