Jerad Dean Going

Jerad Dean Going, a loving, caring father, spouse, son and brother, was born on October 9, 1981, in Pawnee, OK and died in Newkirk, OK on December 8, 2017. As a co-parent with his beloved companion, Jerad was truly experiencing the absolute pride and joy of being a dad to his two and a half-year-old son, Thomas.

Jerad was born with a true artist’s heart. His capacity to find art all around him inspired him to draw at an early age. His passion for art developed into talents for drawing, painting, sculpting, and graphic designs. He appreciated music and played the guitar. To Jerad, creating art was an expression of life.

Jerad loved nature and explored area lakes to find driftwood for art creations. He learned the art of fishing with his dad and brother. He cared for many pets throughout his life, especially dogs Max and Waylon and his cat Sparky. He so appreciated the NPR channel, learning then sharing about our world.

Jerad attended Ponca City Public Schools, graduating in 2000. In school, Jerad received numerous awards for his artwork. He advanced in Boy Scouts from Tiger Cubs through Webelos to earn the Arrow of Light. In his youth, Jerad participated in soccer, basketball, football, and orchestra.

After high school, Jerad attended the Ponca City Pioneer Technology Center for welding. He was employed by C. Johnstone. LLC in Newkirk as a welder since Fall of 2014.

Jerad is survived by his spouse, Brooklynn Stewart-Going, and his son, Thomas Stewart Going of Peckham, OK; his mother, Laneta J Going of Oklahoma City; his father, Robert L Going and wife, Jane Going of Decatur, GA; his brother, Jason Going of Oklahoma City; his grandmother, Virginia Mann of Marlow; Uncle Ronald Mann of Marlow; and Aunt Arleta and husband, Michael Freeman of Marlow.

Jerad was preceded in death by his Papa Joe Mann of Marlow, and his Grandpa Lester and Grandmother Reba Going of Stillwater.
Jerad Going Memorial Service is Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., Lydie’s Cottage, Marland Mansion, 901 Monument Road, Ponca City, OK.
