Warren Alfred Thompson

January 30, 2018

Warren Alfred Thompson went to be with his Lord on January 22, 2018, in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Warren was born September 27, 1934, to Robert Nathan Thompson and Sarah Lucile (Addison) Thompson in Rocky, Arkansas. In 1942, Warren’s family moved back to Oklahoma and settled in Okemah where he would reside until his parents, once again, moved to Marlow where Warren would graduate with the class of 1952. From high school, Warren attended Texas Christian University, served in the Army for two years and eventually graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in chemical engineering.

Warren was always proud for having played a major part in the development of a heart-lung machine prototype during his senior year at OU. Warren would go on to be instrumental in computerized refinery operations in the oil and gas industry. Warren worked some 30 or more years in the oil and gas divisions of Sun, Coastal Petrofina, and Champlin Oil.

Warren was married to Eloise Newberry in 1955 and from this union was born two sons, the late Robert Hadley, and Edwin Dirk Thompson. Warren loved to hunt and fish while living in Corpus Christi, Texas, and later owned and operated a hunting lodge in Colorado for a time. In his later years, Warren was involved in writing and expanding his family tree. He was loved by many and will be missed.

Warren is survived by one son, Edwin Dirk Thompson of the home in Arkansas; two sisters, Mura Elizabeth (Betty) and husband, Teddy Gene Dirickson of Edmond; Linda Kay and husband, Ken Apple of Marlow; his daughter-in-law, Mary Anette Thompson and three much-loved grandchildren, Warren Gilbert, Robert Sterling, and Sabella Eloise Thompson of Orlando, FL.
