David Lee Heien

David Lee Heien, left this world to go to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, in Edmond at the age of 87.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Joe Ligon officiating. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Snyder under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

David was born Saturday, May 17, 1930, in Mountain Park, Oklahoma, to Elmer and Thelma Gladys (Stogsdill) Heien. He had lived in the Snyder area where he graduated from high school. He also attended Cameron University. David married the love of his life, Betty Lou Willis, on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950, in Snyder and they had 67 wonderful years together before his passing. David's 65-year career in the lumber industry began in 1951 in Snyder. He brought his knowledge and skills to Marlow in 1957 where he worked as the assistant manager for W.M. Cameron Company Lumberyard. David bought the business in 1979 with his partners and later became the sole owner in 1982. David was always very active in the community in various organizations. Among those, he was the President of the Marlow Lions Club from 1964-1965. He was also a former board member of the Oklahoma Lumbermen's Association and the Mid America Lumbermen's Association. David was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marlow, where he served as a Deacon for more than 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; son, Grady Heien of Marlow; two daughters, Beverly Boyles and husband, Dewayne of Marlow, Barbara Johnson and husband, Larry of Marlow; six grandchildren, Jerry Boyles, Steven Boyles, Zane Houck, Aubrey Houck, Heather Gulli, Patrick Pilkington. He is also survived by one great-grandchild, Baker Zane Houck; a sister-in-law, Julia Heien; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene Willis and wife, Joyce, Charles Winslett and wife, Aleta; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert L. Heien; brother and sister-in-law, Howard Winslett and wife, Imogene; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Jackson and Coletta Willis; and a nephew, Roy Heien.

David had a very giving heart and donated to numerous charities. In honor of his giving spirit, memorial contributions to the charity of your choice are suggested.
