Teddy Lynn Cline

Former Rush Springs resident Teddy Lynn Cline, departed this life on Saturday, April 28, 2018, in Marlow, at the age of 80.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with Rev. David Hale and Rev. Paul Phipps officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery. All arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Ted was born Tuesday, November 9, 1937, in Duncan, to Andy and Corene (Varner) Cline. He graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1957. He married the love of his life, Joyce Drake on June 27, 1957, in Frederick and had been married for over 60 wonderful years. Ted often jokingly said he gave Joyce her choice of having a honeymoon or moving to Rush Springs. So, the couple immediately moved to Rush Springs in June of 1957 from Tipton were they resided for over 32 years until moving to Marlow. He was very active in his community and had served in leadership positions in numerous organizations such as the Rush Springs School Board, member and past president of the Lions Club, served as Watermelon Festival Chairman, District Governor of the Oklahoma Lions Club, member and past president of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees). Ted also served on Henry Bellmon's Economic Council and the Small Business Association Council under George Nigh and was a member of the Oklahoma Tourism Committee. He ran several businesses in Rush Springs over the years, including their original business of building pick-up bumpers, grill guards, and then added farm machinery including the Big OX plow, blades and land levelers. In 1968, they started building the Twilight Bungalow Travel Trailers and started Cline's Used Trailers and Equipment, a business he began in 1997. His company originally built the first oversized watermelon slice that has sat at the corner of Highway 17 and 81 advertising the Festival. He had also been an auctioneer. He was a very active member of the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs where he has been a leader and teacher in various areas over the years. But most of all he was know for being the voice of the Redskin's for many years at the football games. Ted will be remembered for his kind heart, warm smile and a love for his community. His efforts on both the local and state level to promote his community will not soon be forgotten.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cline of the home; a son, Terry Cline of Grapevine, Texas; a daughter, Pam Seymour and husband, Russell, of Marlow; a grandson, Cody Seymour and wife, Heather, of Duncan; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Seymour and Harper Seymour of Duncan; a cousin, Glenda Willis of Oklahoma City; a sister-in-law, Lois Matlock and husband, Leon, of Anadarko; a nephew, Michael Harrison of Plant City, FL; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Corene, and a granddaughter, Cortney Seymour.

Pallbearers will be Dub Meadows, Steve Burger, Clif Creech, Gary Langham, Jeff Roberts, Chester Treadaway, Carl Jarboe, Ken Grooms, and Jack Porter.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Woody Meek, Melvin Heath, Richard Krey, Raymond Rust, Shorty Pelley, Randall Harris, Clarence Ballard, Jim Coast, Bill Dryden, Johnny Walker, Robert Pelley, Duane Hayes, Bob Stewart, and Harry Funk.
