HB was born Tuesday, February 4, 1947, in Helena, AR, to Clinton and Oba (Maynard) Hickingbottom. He was a well-known teacher and cheerleading coach for many years at the Marlow High School. He had received numerous honors on both the National and State levels in both areas. His teaching career alone spanned more than 45 years in five different states. He held a Master's degree in both education and psychology and did advanced studies in brain abnormalities. He believed each person should use their talents and resources to make life better for others, especially children and teens. He affected countless other in the most positive way; always helping, counseling, and guiding. His impact on Marlow and the surrounding communities cannot be overstated; he unfailingly gave himself and his personal resources to better the lives of innumerable people. In his life, his sense of modesty and discretion kept him from ever claiming credit or recognition for his actions. His colleagues are quick to acknowledge the high standard of honor he set. He was a National level Women's Gymnastics Judge, a director of three Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Local pageants, field director and involved in the Miss America/Miss Oklahoma/Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Scholarship Program for more than thirty-eight years, and was the scorekeeper for Marlow basketball and baseball. To say he will be missed by many is an understatement.
