Wanda Mae Sumrill Linam

Wanda Linam stepped inside the Eastern Gates and left this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the age of 90 years old.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018, in Marlow at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Ligon officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Marlow, Oklahoma.

Wanda was born September 5, 1927, in Duncan, Oklahoma to John Edwin (Ed J.) Sumrill and Ada Mae Beatrice Adkins Sumrill and lived her entire life in Stephens County. She was a 1945 graduate of Duncan High School in Duncan. On April 3, 1944, in Waurika, a glorious bond was made; she married her high school sweetheart and captain of Duncan High School football team; they spent the next 60 years together raising their family until his death.

She was a devoted mother, putting herself last behind the needs of her family and teaching the moral principles that are vital to all of her children. She was a true Christian example to others and a humble servant of God. Her reward is without a doubt, an eternity of jubilation with those she loved.

She lived a good Christian life, saved, baptized and was a member of the First Nazarene Church for over 70 years. She was a dear Godly mother; so forgiving toward others; worked hard and had the sweetest loving spirit. Her Christian life shown all around her and blessed so many lives. She loved her farm, “Bluehaven Ranch,” and thought of it as a little piece of earthly Heaven.

Wanda was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and sister-in-law; she will be greatly missed by all.

God blessed Wanda with four children: Tom, Dick, Harry, and Sonja. She is survived by one daughter, Sonja Linam Glover and her husband, David, of Marlow; one sister, Addie Jo Sumrill Garrett of Marlow; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann Linam of Marlow.

Wanda is also survived by eight grandchildren and their spouses: Dennis Linam and Angela of Chickasha; Sherre’ and Bobby King, Shane and Clesete Linam of Marlow; Dana and Kevin Braun of Westlake, Texas; Stacy and Jay Patton of Argyle, Texas; Shana and Mark Bishop of Keller, Texas; Harry Linam Jr. of Carlsbad, New Mexico; and Gia Glover of Marlow; 26 great-grandchildren: Justin, Shelby and Jessica Linam; Megan, Brayden and Addie Sanders; Brayden, Bryson and Alexus King; Alex Linam Tuttle; Christopher Linam Tuttle; Jonathan Linam Tuttle; Ty, Trinity and Trey Linam; Taylor and Morgan Braun; Chelsi Patton; Peyton and Ashley Hale; Shelbi, Maci and Elli Bishop; Ricky Farmer Jr.; and Cassidy Mercer; four great-great-granddaughters: Addalynn Miglietti, Dally Nuckolls, Gentry Mercer, and Hensley Farmer; four great-great-grandsons: Levi Hale, Colter Hale, Colby Farmer, and Oakley Farmer; nine nieces and nephews: Wayne Garrett of Duncan, Gary Garrett of Dallas, Texas, and Donald Garrett; D.B. Green and Jana Hill of Marlow; Pam Vaughn of Elgin; Lana Grubber and Lisa Miller of Lawton; and Tommy Lynn Miller of Paradise Valley.

Waiting for Wanda beyond the Pearly Gates of Heaven, preceding her in death is her husband, T.J.; three sons: Thomas (Tom) Edwin Linam, Richard (Dick) Dwayne Linam, and Harry Dale Linam Sr.; a granddaughter, Cindi Jane Farmer; her parents, John Edwin (Ed J.) Sumrill and Ada Mae Beatrice Adkins Sumrill; one brother, Richard Edwin Sumrill; grandparents, John Jerry (J.J.) and Elizabeth Peters Sumrill; John Joseph (J.J.) and Addie Plemmons Adkins; mother-in-law, Vena Lou Hedge Linam; great-grandson, Christopher Blaney Linam; niece, Judy Jones Galyon; nephew, Larry John Miller; one great-nephew, Josh Hill; and one grandson-in-law, Tony Sanders; sisters and brothers-in-law: Georgia Mae and Ira Green, Lela and Pete Mitchell, Mary and Bill Galyon, Frankie and John Miller, and Dwight Garrett; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bearers will be Harry Linam Jr., Shane Linam, Dennis Linam, Kevin Braun, Jay Patton, and Peyton Hale.

Honorary Bearers will be great-grandsons.
