Jo Ann Hunt Price

Jo Ann Hunt Price, age 80, passed away peacefully in the home of her son, Gregg Price, on Thursday, December 6, 2018, in Marlow, Oklahoma.  Jo Ann was born January 24, 1938 in Lubbock, Texas to Dr. Roy Elwin and Mattie Mae Franks Hunt.  Jo Ann grew up in Vernon, Texas and after high school, she attended Colorado Women's College, The University of Texas where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Midwestern University in Wichita Falls where she received her degree in education in 1964.  While attending Midwestern University, she met her future husband, Ivan Ray Price. They were married on August 16, 1958 and celebrated 51 years of marriage before Ivan's death in 2009.

Jo Ann and Ivan moved to Rush Springs in 1965.  She began teaching in Oklahoma and taught in several school systems before retiring from Rush Springs Schools in 2003 after a 39 year career in education.  Upon retiring, Jo Ann and Ivan moved to Frederick where Jo Ann became active in the local senior citizen center, serving as the secretary.  She delivered meals to shut-ins until suffering a fall four years ago.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Ray Price, her parents, Dr. Roy Elwin and Mattie Mae Franks Hunt, her foster parents, Dr. Alvin Lee and Ruth J. Franks Borchardt, and foster brothers, Alvin Lee Borchardt, Jr. and Dan K. Borchardt.

Jo Ann is survived by son and daughter-in-law Mike and Brenda Price, Montpelier, LA, son and daughter-in-law Gregg and Janet Price, Marlow, OK, daughter Nancy McCandless, Sevierville, TN, sister and brother-in-law Jane and James Newth, Dallas, TX, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and life long friends Ann Huskinson, Vernon, TX, and Sarah Cates, Wichita Falls, TX.

Jo Ann was a member of Vimy Ridge Baptist Church.  No service has been planned at this time.
