Marlow will get a treat this weekend and next as Duncan Little Theatre’s production of “Just Desserts” opens on Friday at the Marlow Opera House, 100 N 2nd Street. The murder mystery features local actors Karen Dean, Valerie Absher, Kassie Gilmore, Darrel Ashford, and Amie Booth in an eclectic cast of characters who all want to find out “whodunit.”

The plot centers around a charity baking contest, judged by Reginald P. Cogsworth (Ashford), who is no fan of sweets. The three finalists are nail salon owner Lucy “Scooter” Bright (Absher) and her raspberry tart; a Depression-era recipe cake by Edna Mae Carter (Gilmore), the local librarian; and a luscious torte made by society maven Margaret Mason (Dean). When the judge suddenly falls dead during the final tasting, the contest chair Miss Peabody (Booth) must enlist the help of the audience – and the clues they have found in the theater – to find the culprit.

The play is directed by Cindy Mann and produced by Beth Ann Hough.

Showtimes are at 7:30pm Friday and Saturday, September 13 and 14, and again on Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21. Doors open nightly at 7pm for ticket sales. Desserts are served during intermission.
