New Event at Central High Carnival

by Elizabeth Pitts-Hibbard

A new event has been added to the Central High Fall Carnival: pumpkin decorating. The annual event, scheduled for Tuesday, September 24 at 5:30pm, also includes crowning a King and Queen as well as bingo for prize baskets.

The pumpkin decorating event is for Central High students who are in sixth grade and under. Each student may enter one decorated (not punctured or carved) pumpkin; entries will be accepted along the east end of the football field along the fence until 6pm.

After the judging, the top two pumpkins from each class will be placed in a silent auction that ends at 8pm. Funds raised from the silent auction will go to the Central High Beautiful Day fund.

The Central High Fall Carnival schedule is as follows:

5:30pm – Carnival opens

6:00pm – Pumpkin entries due; judging begins

6:30pm – Elementary school King and Queen crowning on football field

7:00pm – Bingo begins; prize baskets awarded each round ($500 blackout grand prize)

8:45pm – Carnival closes
